About Restoring Photographs

While technology keep growing with the times, people today are storing their photographs digitally. Whether that be on their phones or computers so none of their photos will get messed up. However, what about the photos passed down from generation to generation? You know, the old torn, scratched, messed up photos that you have may have gotten passed down to you. How do you go about storing those? Will they get more messed up? What if you want to fix that?

I started freelancing restoring photos in 2023 when a client came up to me to see if I could do it. While there’s always a trial and error process that always happens in art, I know now what works and doesn’t. The process is a little bit longer than a normal “sit at your computer and print” job, but I take this as a very delicate job.

Below you’ll find out about the process as well as pricing!

Process

  • Find the Photos

    First you’ll want to find the photographs that you want to have restored.

  • Sending in the Photos

    Depending on the capabilty, you can either scan (this has to be a very high resolution scanner) and email the photos or you can mail the photos (I perfer the mailing option as I know I will be able to control the scanning resolution).

  • Scanning

    If you mail your photos, I will then scan them on a high resolution scanner.

  • Restoring

    After getting the photos scanned I will then start the restoration process. This is a digtial process that I will work on the scanned photo (nothing is being done to the original photograph). If needed, I may ask for more photos of the person to get faces right. I will also send updated emails about the photos to get your feedback.

  • Done!

    After finishing the photos and you approve of the final look, I’m able to email them to you or I can print them. All original photos will be sent back to you if you mailed them! Enjoy your newly restored photos!

Pricing

  • Basic

    This package is based on the level of restoring of the photograph. If there is minimal wear and tear on the photo, this is the best package. Please email for pricing!

  • Intermediate

    This package is based on the level of restoring of the photograph. If there is wear and tear on the photo, this is the best package. Please email for pricing!

  • Advanced

    This package is based on the level of restoring of the photograph. If there is significant wear and tear on the photo, this is the best package. Please email for pricing!

  • Printing

    If you want your restored photographs printed there is an extra cost and it will include shipping. This is solely based on the number of photographs being printed so please contact me for the best pricing!
